Painful and embarrassing hemorrhoids, how to solve it without surgery in the hospital?

Consistent hot water sitz bath is effective

Winter is the season that hemorrhoids patients fear. When the temperature drops, blood vessels constrict and blood circulation is impaired, making symptoms worse. In fact, the number of patients undergoing hemorrhoid surgery in winter is the highest.

According to the National Health Insurance Corporation's 2017 major surgery statistics, the number of hemorrhoid surgery in winter (January to February, December) was 57,000, accounting for 29% of the annual surgery. Of these, January had the most with 2,809 cases.

Hemorrhoids are divided into three main types

Hemorrhoids are broadly divided into three types. hemorrhoids, hemorrhoids, hemorrhoids Hemorrhoids are the most common form of lumps on the mucous membrane of the anus. Hemorrhoids grow if the stool is hard, or if you force the anus to pass and the pressure inside the stomach increases.

If hemorrhoids come out during the process of defecation, or if they come out and do not go back in, symptoms such as discharge, bleeding, and itching appear. A dentition is a tear in the area from the entrance to the anus to the inside of the anus. Most of the time, it is caused by damage to the skin while excreting hard stools.

If the tear is repeated without healing properly, the wound can progress to an anal ulcer. A sharp, stabbing pain appears when having a bowel movement. A fistula is a small passageway to the skin outside the anus due to the pus inside the abscess that was around the anus.

Perianal abscesses can be caused by intestinal diseases such as colitis or Crohn's disease, trauma, or tuberculosis. Discharges such as pus continuously come out through the hole in the skin, and the skin around the anus is stimulated, causing discomfort and pain.

Hemorrhoids are mainly operated in the 3rd or 4th stage

Hemorrhoids, which account for 80% of hemorrhoids, are usually treated with surgery when they have progressed to stage 3 or 4. Stage 1 hemorrhoids is a case of occasional bleeding from the anus, and stage 2 hemorrhoids come out and enter only when passing a bowel movement.

From stage 3, the lump that came out of the anus must be forcibly inserted to enter the anus. Stage 4 is the stage where no lumps enter at all. At this time, the lump is surgically removed. Fever is treated with medication only if it has been less than a month since the onset of symptoms.

If you improve the symptoms of constipation or diarrhea through drug treatment, and take a drug that helps blood circulation around the anus, most symptoms will be relieved within 2-3 weeks. It is decided whether or not to have surgery after confirming that the fistula is not chronically progressing.

Both dentition and fistula are treated with botox injections to tighten the sphincter or inserting a rubber band into the sphincter because the sphincter is in an abnormally contracted state due to chronic wounds or inflammation. Hemorrhoids, dentition, and fistulas are known to have a low recurrence rate of less than 1% after surgery.

Constant hot water sitz bath helps

To relieve hemorrhoids, it is most important to improve blood circulation around the anus. This is because hemorrhoids themselves are caused by poor blood circulation in the veins around the anus, causing the blood vessels to expand and the blood vessel walls to weaken. The most common non-surgical treatment for this is hot water sitz bath.

If you consistently take a hot sitz bath, the anal sphincter relaxes, the pressure going to the anus is lowered, and the blood circulation around the sphincter improves, thereby alleviating symptoms. Even if you do not have hemorrhoids, if you are over 50, taking a sitz bath 2-3 times a week can help prevent anal disease. It is also effective to massage the area around the anus for 3 minutes at a temperature similar to your own body temperature using the shower stream.

To prevent hemorrhoids, it is good to eat vegetables and fruits rich in dietary fiber for smooth bowel movements. It is not good to eat fatty foods or to eat late night snacks frequently. Do not sit on the toilet for more than 10 minutes. The pressure on the anus increases, which can cause problems with blood circulation.
