The big toe sticking out, why you shouldn't leave it without care.

As more and more people wear high-heeled shoes, such as high heels or high-heeled shoes, the number of foot and foot diseases is increasing. Hallux valgus is one of the most common foot disorders.

Hallux valgus is a condition in which the big toe is severely bent toward the second toe and the big toe joint protrudes inward. In severe cases, the big toe gets worse to the point where it crosses the second toe. When hallux valgus occurs, the protruding joint is stimulated when standing or walking, and the big toe becomes red, calluses are caught, and inflammation and pain occur. The big toe, which supports the body and gives propulsion when walking, does not do its job, causing pain in the other toe and catching calluses. If the symptoms worsen, the joint may be dislocated, the shape of the foot may be deformed, and pain may be felt in the lower back.

Hallux valgus is genetically more common in people with flat feet or wide feet. However, acquired causes such as wearing uncomfortable shoes and walking incorrectly are more common.

Hallux hallux valgus can be easily seen with the naked eye because of its external transformation, but in order to determine an appropriate treatment plan, it is necessary to undergo a radiographic examination along with a doctor's examination. The treatment method of hallux valgus varies depending on the patient's symptoms, the severity of the deformity, and the purpose of treatment. If it is not severe, you can receive conservative treatment such as wearing soft shoes with wide cheeks and low heels, and using orthodontic insoles or implants. However, if the deformity is severe, surgery may be necessary to shave off the bone in the protruding area and lengthen the shortened muscles and soft tissues.

To prevent hallux valgus, it is most important to avoid wearing high-heeled and hard shoes, and to wear comfortable and soft shoes. Correct gait is also important, so it is good to walk so that your feet naturally touch the ground in the order of ‘heel-toe-toe’. Since hallux valgus is a progressively worsening disease, it is difficult to completely prevent it once the transformation begins. If hallux valgus is suspected, it is necessary to seek orthopedic treatment as soon as possible to slow the progression through conservative treatment.
