A way to find the Owner when I pick up a lost iPhone.

I found an iPhone on the road. While waiting for the way, I picked up an iPhone that seemed to have been lost. It is unknown how many days have passed since it was lost. In this case, how can I return it to the owner?  Is there anyway I can be able to find the owner of the phone?

I could find some answers in Reddit.

1. Press volume up and the power button and look if there’s a medical id.

2. If it’s a new enough iPhone to be water resistant try charging it if you have a charger. Maybe the owner has already put it into lost mode.

3. Dry the phone out and plug it in to see if it turns on. If it does and a “find my” notification pops up you should be able to call the owner.

4. You. No. But the owner is, when he/she activated "Find my iPhone". You can bring it to an Apple Store or if an SIM Card is inserted and there is a logo printed on it, bring the iPhone to that store (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.). They normally can find the owner from its SIM Card number.

5. What do you think Apple is going to do? They are not going to take responsibility for a lost phone.

6. But the owner is more likely to find his/her iPhone in an Apple Store (with "Find my iPhone" activated) than at someone's home without knowing in which house/flat the finder lives. Therefore, it is still better to return the iPhone to Apple than to keep it. But as I said, there is also the possibility to return it to the cell phone provider.

7. Plug it in so it’s charging and turn it on. See if there is any medical id info setup. If so, use that to contact the owner. If not, the owner may call the phone or put it in lost mode with contact info you can call. Those are better options than the Apple store or carrier.
